Charles W Morgan at Mystic Seaport, Connecticutt (not participating at UKs celebrations!!)
The Trafalgar 200 celebrations are taking place on the week beginning 27 June in Portsmouth (Hampshire) UK. I am quite excited by the Fleet Review taking place on the afternoon on Tuesday 28 June, as well as the 'Son et Lumiere' show that same evening. there will be hundreds of tall ships, Royal Navy ships and international ships for us to see! And the best of all is...the whole show is for free, we only have to turn up at the seafront! Quite differently from the much publicised International Festival of the Sea (IFOS) at the dockyard, with a £20 per person entrance fee for each day. I've read the information on their website and there is not even a programme! Hey, with an entrance fee of £20 I think we deserve more information than vague "wide variety of music to suit all tastes" and "exciting mix of internationally renowned military bands from home and overseas". How about a programme with a list of all entertainment with times and venues? The IFOS website includes pages on the Fleet Review, Trafalgar 200 and Military Displays. As if they were part of the same IFOS. part of what you get from your £20 entrance fee. This is misleading. These events are 100% free and IFOS should make that clear on their website. I for one am NOT going to waste my money on IFOS, but will happily go to the seafront for the other free events.
