Read in the New Zealand Herald : "National leader Don Brash (main opposition party in NZ) tonight outlined his views on policy directions including selling Kiwibank and allowing nuclear-propelled ships to visit New Zealand". I don't know about the first point, although it seems to me it's a shame selling the only national bank left to foreign investors (British or Australian, as usual), but the second is worrying. Until now, NZ has been (probably! and because of their own will not because they don't have the resources) the only country in the world where nuclear energy is NOT used. They are so nuclear free that they don't even allow nuclear-propelled ships to use the country's harbours. Which I think it's logical. If you are keeping your house clean, why should you allow your neighbour to dump rubbish in your garden? But with the opposition leader 'considering' allowing these types of ships to visit NZ...well, one thing leads to another thing...what next? nuclear plants? I just hope ideas like these will make Brash unpopular so he won't win the Newzealanders support at the next elections.
